45 processes
Is there a website that has a listing and discription of the various processes that are active at any one time?
I have currently 45 going, this seems extreme, and over all about 200 MBs of ram is used just for this. What im trying to do is reduce the number of processes that are active and reduce the memory load. Also any advice on which ones to terminate and not to would be very very helpful, as im pretty noobish to this thanks Han Comp Specs: 3Ghz 1GB crucial 3200 ram p4c800e deluxe Mobo 60 GB maxtor HD 80 GB maxtor HD 9800 AIW radeon |

Handoko,
if all the proceess show up right after windows startup then you've too many startup items.. if some of them start later then this is normal.. get a pic of the Windows Task Manager and post here (something like below...) or just list it...

Thats a bit much. Depending if you have applications running after bootup it might be normal(depening on the # of them u have up).
Visit Blackviper.com and you can see with descriptions what you can disable. By default XP usually has anywhere from 22-27 processes running, using Blackvipers site and A futuremark post I was able to trim that down to 15 processes. Blackviper Win XP services http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm Blackviper Win 2K services http://www.blackviper.com/Win2k/servicecfg.htm Future Mark Thread ......in progress, seems Futuremark can't pull up any of my posts cept 2. Emailed em about it, when i get a reply I'll repost that link. Good luck, and tweak like a fiend!
