Using XP driver system on win 98
Is it possible any way to use the auto-detecting driver system in windows XP on a windows 98 box to detect and install small things like network cards, modems, sound cards, so that if you have just installed windows 98 you don't have to open the box up to see exactly which cards are in it ?

i will try to explain it more clearly.
first of all - you know how when u have a fresh installation of windows xp you usually do not need to install any extra drivers for things like network cards, modems, some sound cards and other things as it automatically detects some of your hardware and does it for you from its database. what i was wondering is if there is any way to use that detection system with the database on a fresh installation of windows 98 because if you use a windows 98 cd you will have to open up the box to find out exactly what components are in it to find the drivers.. hope that is a little more clear for you. thx |
