Hosting FTP with XP and Router

Having problems with this using Bulletproof FTP 2.21

I originally did the initial setup with BPFTP and when I connected it showed my internal and external ip's but no one could connect due to my router I assume blocking incoming traffic.

I went into my router settings (use Bellsouth and a Westel DSL modem) and set port forwarding to my internal IP (one of the choices). I then started up BPFTP and it only showed my internal ip as being active, and didn't list my external IP on connection as it did prior.

Not sure what the next step is, any suggestions would be great, thanks.

what ports have you forwarded? BFTP I've noticed can be a bit picky as well as creating TWO open ports, 21 and 22 I think, I think one connection is for browsing the other for transfers, if you're using a firewall, software wise make sure it's not blocking any apps that may be incidentialy in use by BFTP, I think it's Generic Host processes which needs to be allowed access as well. but I'm not sure on that.
