Installed, but no improvement (3DMark01/03)
![]() I guess Cat 4.7 doesn't include SM2.0b, so Far Cry still doesn't take benefit of this, even with the Bloody 1.2 cursed Patch (and the tricky command line)Anyway, i don't think my 9700 Pro will be able to handle this new shaders

No_Style, it's a redistrutable package... meaning that the developers should pack it with there games on the cd so that when they (meaning us users) attempt to install a game or something that makes use of the DX9.0c and it so happens that we don't have it... the pack is avialable for us to install right off the cd... it's not ment Specifically for developers or else the normal public wouldn't have access to it.... (it's not the DirectX 9.0c DP ) The nice thing about the redistrutable is the fact that you don't have to download a specific version of dx to work with whatever os your running. it'll install without a hitch on 98se through to 2003

I like the file for rebuilding the computer's OS and driver software when starting from scratch...

Still doesn't explain why MS hasn't thrown it up onto the their DX site yet. So I guess they're just a little slow on updating that. I understand what you're saying, and it is available to us publicly, but it's not available where we usually get our DX updates.

Thanks for the heads up dude, the redistributable version always left some old files behind that were listed as out of date, the websetup version installed flawlessly and all files are current

Well..
The Redist and the WebUpdate should be the same since, MS links to the Redist for offline installs released a few days ago.

![]() I still have 3 files that remain old versions (d3d8.dll,d3d700 something and another one) and even after manually desinstall them (one with copylock) and execute the websetup, they're back...

I've never tried ANY version of SP2 beta, I've always just used SP1. I installed DX9.0c.
It says 9.0c in system information. I DID notice one file that said "Beta Retail"........mfc42.dll.....don't know if that's significant. I really don't see any difference in anything. The PC hasn't had any nervous breakdowns or anything seems the same as it was with DX9.0b I don't guess it would hurt for people to install it. If you have an nVidia GPU, you get PS3 support, but that's about it. But that also means that PS3 is now an officially supported API. We fanATIcs will probably have to wait until whatever Radeon after X800 before we see any benefits of DX9.0c. That's all. |
