Opposite to "expand" ???

Hi

Anyone knows the opposite command to "expand", example "expand uxtheme.dl_" expands the compressed dll file, i need to deexpand a dll file back to compressed state.

Searches so far:

Microsoft COMPRESS appears only to be distributed in resource packs.

MS Compress/expand utilities appear to be available for linux.

When looking for a compress utility, search finds are badly contaminated by mentions of archivers which can expand file in Microsoft COMPRESS format, but most likely not recompress them!

What was it originally compressed with? Drivespace, dblspace, WinRAR, WinZIP, WinACE? Any of those ought to be able to compress it again.

If it was drivespace or dblspace & you're on Win 95/98/Me FAT16/32 file system > I don't think you can compress it again. I don't know if W2k/XP supports them, but I don't think so. Prolly read/expand them, like 9x, but not compress in that format.

The dl_ extension tends to imply Microsoft compress

I just discovered a copy of COMPRESS.EXE that came with "Pixcl Tools"

try http://www.freepixcl.com for the full kit (a programming toolkit) or PM/email me and I'll post you the file - still not sure if it's the right one - I think this might be the CAB file compresser.

Mmmmh, I doubt if the "King of Bloatware" has any inkling of the word "compress".........
