Problem with ASUS A8V Deluxe and SP2

Has anyone with this motherboard successfully loaded SP2? I have tried twice and both times windows just continuously reboots itself. I can't even get into safe mode because it just reboots. I think it seems to be hanging on gagp30kx.sys when trying to load windows. I'm also using an Athlon64 3500+, but I don't think that would matter.

I have the same basic setup as yourself (a8v ; 3500+)and SP2 gave me no problems installing.I would suggest a reformat/reinstall but I'm sure you've probably already come to that conclusion.

you can always do a recovery with the xp cd... that way you do not have to format ... you loose almost no data and it will restore XP to default setting and all files. It removes all patches. Then you could go with sp2.

I got it working by slipstreaming SP2 with my XP CD and doing the repair. Everything seems to be normal running SP2 and I hopefully won't have any other problems.

Yeah it's a bad idea to install Windows, then download SP2 and upgrade from there.

Is there any chance you can link the KB article? I'm interested to see what driver was causing the problem.
