Service pack 2 patcher, for file sharers

Sorry this is translated

Quote:
Aspiring to lower probability of occurrence of virusno-worm epidemics, Microsoft in the second service - pack for Windows XP has brought in restriction to 10 TCP/IP-connections on one process. Basically, anything bad in it is not present, but only not for those who Download files through networks of the general resources (eDonkey, Bittorrent, Gnutella, etc.). Here is how time for them also is developed a patch, allowing to increase in Windows XP SP2 number of simultaneous TCP/IP-connections for one process. By default their number is exposed in 50, and hardly it is meaningful to increase this value...

Basically SP2 limited you connections to 10 per process which the results are horrible on file sharing networks. It’s slows then down tremendously. Personally I believe it's more of an attempt by Microsoft to curb file sharing but none the less it appears to have been defeated. What this patchier does is patch your tcpip.sys to allow up to 50 connections.

I’ve tested it my self the last couple days looking for any odd behavior, check my connections etc, I’m always cautious it appears fine, though this is as always at your own risk. (also the original is backed up by the program).

This did help my speed on Shareaza, so if you use such P2P programs give it a try!

I thought there was a registry tweak that did the same thing without patching?

http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=9017
Not quite the same, the registry fix controls OPEN connections, the patch is for half-open.

wonder ..... this probably will be needed by anyone running a dedicated server and wants more then 10 people on the server at once.. not to mention that it may be only 8 people allowed do to the server sending info out to master servers....

As i understand, it does allow more then 10 connections to valid adresses, but adresses/ip's who are not working, it will bring down to max 10 connection at the same time, so it shouldn't affect eg. people running a decicated server of some kind.

Microsoft has a page explaining this "feature", can seem to find it now though :=)

10 connections per process , the whole point is to curb file shareing ( virus spreads is just a excuse)

a sever mabe diffrent but it ment to affect the file shareing networks
