I haven't seen anything like that but perhaps it's somewhere in the new security panel. (can't look because I won't turn it back on) Try a separate download manager for now. Here's a good, free one. http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

i can turn the security panel off?!?!? HOW?
another thing that happens is if i download a file (for instance, the even of destruction BF mod installer) a window pops up and says "this file is not digitall signed, do you want to run it? yes/no" |

Why....msconfig of course
in services there is a Security Center and Windows Firewall/Intern... I had to turn `em off to install NIS, otherwise I couldn't install norton internet security. (I don't completely trust any Gates firewall). Before the nis install I went to the security center and turned the firewall off. During the restart after the nis install the windows firewall would turn itself back on. --instant bsod-- The security center WILL override your settings if it doesn't like what you do.

If you go into administrative tools and services you can stop and disable the security center. Its prob best to do it that way for some reason on the blackviper stie he does not recomend turning off windows services through msconfig.
If you are are getting the bar across the top of the screen open up IE goto tools and turn off the pop up blocker or allow it for that site. Or IE could be blocking some potentially malicious activeX? If its blocking an activeX control you will have to adjust your IE security settings. If you do not totally trust the site though i would be careful cause its a good chance it could be spyware. |

i think, the Security Center had nothing to do with the problem on the initial post?

lol that is true, but we eventually got there.
it should take care of it though, as it will no longer warn me about downloaded files (thank god). i hope the popupblocker still works though. thanks guys

did you have to .. Disble the Security Center service? or Disable the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service? or both of them need to be disabled? Did you make any change in the Security setting in IE? ....... in order to turn off that " that little bar " |
