How do you add drivers to a Windows XP CD?
I just fisnished creating a slpistreamed Windows XP cd and I just thought of something. I have a Soundblaster Audigy card that Windows XP doesn't detect upon a fresh install. Is there a way that I can add the drivers, Audio HQ, Mixer, etc... to the CD so when I install Windows off of the cd, the drivers for my soundcard and the programs to go with it will be installed?
![]() Edit: Oops... I just realized that I posted this in the wrong forum. Mods, if you wish to, please move this thread. Sorry.

You have to options;
1) use microsoft's unattended mode, which basicly lets you write a txt file with all your prefrerred install options. a great site about unattend setups is here: http://unattended.msfn.org/ 2) create your own custom installation cd with nlite which is a great tool to integrate sp's and remove components you don't need, after that it generates a bootable iso image to which you can add your own selections of software with a program like UltraIso. Nlite is found here: http://nuhi.msfn.org/ Which of the 2 is best is up to you, the 1st requires more pc knowledge but is more customisable, the second is easy for beginners but still requires that you need to install your drivers by hand after installation. There's a way to combine both but tbh it's complicated to write up here, the msfn.org forums has all the info you need if this won't cover your needs. GL.

It's also great for the custom component removal feature, always needed to delete that stupid international support and messenger and gamingzone and so on. My WindowsXP install folder now is only 247mb SP2 included and XP installed on disk is only around 470meg instead of the 1+gig it normally uses. Lightning fast system tho my hardware could be the cause there

the drivers go in the $OEM$\Drivers\ATi(name it whatever you want, but it the $OEM$ folder msut be named that) folder int he main XPCD Directory(you have to create it) then in the i386 directory fo the XPCD open up the winnt.sif file in notepad and make sure you have the following under the correct headers:
Under [Data]: UnattendedInstall="Yes" Under [Unattended]: OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_raid;Drivers\001_la n"(each directory seperated by a semicolon) And as a helpful hint if you wanna disable a lot of the microsoft stuff most commonly deleted, add this to the bottom of the winnt.sif file: [Components] msmsgs=off //skips messenger msnexplr=off //skips MSN Explorer freecell=off //you can guess the rest ![]() hearts=off minesweeper=off pinball=off solitaire=off spider=off zonegames=off |
