if you are referring to the full network install file of the SP2 (266MB), i'd say yes,... D/L and keep the file, install at anytime you want, or use it to create a new XP setup CD that includes this SP for using on your next reformat.

I downloaded it and slipstreamed it into an install cd for myself. Also I ordered the free cd, took less than 2 weeks to get, may come in handy. Although they cheaped out on this one, the security CD they gave away for Feb/04 was a lot nicer, included a standalone firewall and AV program.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx

Link to order the CD version, always good to have on hand.

i have not done a clean XP SP2 setup yet, still testing on a few betas and on trail softwares, HDD and partitions imaging and file/ data backup softwares, Office related works, some printer scanner devices drivers , AV, PFW etc etc..

i've setup a new partition and restore an win XP SP1 image file into it, this is a clean XP SP1 with no 3rd party softwares but devices drivers, and it's all default windows settings... then i applied the SP2...

from the point on i've been using the same copy of this XP SP2, never make a new setup..
been replacing a few hardwares, 3/ 56K modems, 2/ video cards, 2/ lan cards and all of its softwares,
and also been installing and removing alot of softwares and they are (up to now)..
3 Antivirus programs, 2 firewall (softwares), 4 Disks/Partitions backup and restore programs,
2 MS Offices, 3 others office suites, 2 Partitioning managers and explorers programs, 2 Email programs,
and more. lol. not yet seen any problem in XP SP2.
But i have read on the topics and subjects lines of many newsgroups which's relating to MS Windows that many many XP users out there have found some kind of a problem "after" applying the SP2, many of the problems that they have are new found problems on both their softwares and hardwares, nothing like these that i've seen on the last SP.
i'm a lucky win XP SP2 user. i guess.
