I like IE6 better after XP SP2

This is the first real improvement of this browser I can really "feel" the difference. The pop-up blocker is good, not great, but very good.

I have to tell you, it really does do a better job than the built in defrag with Windows XP Professional.

At a first glance I was not impressed. But I did a defrag, a defrag while the OS is booting, and my system, laden with drivers, DID boot faster. Faster than I have ever seen it do, and that is with SP2 and the security center, too.

IE is beter now, tho i still prefer firefox because of the extensions and tapped browsing.

as for diskkeeper, your absolutely right, the builtin defrager does a louzy job

Well I have to admit that the pop-up blocker is a nice addition along with the option to view all installed active-x controls, but it's too little too late. I will stick with Firefox and only use IE for windows update.

I agree that IE6 SP2 is definitly an improvement... but it still isn't close to Firefox. Firefox has support for extensions, so you can add almost every single feature you want.

yea, im forced to use firefox now, as IE got screwed up on me, and MS doesnt have a ie6 sp2 installer on their site

i lost all of my favorites for the second time in 2 weeks!

Try out the firefox extention called bookmark backup. You won't have to worry about losing your bookmarks again!!!

I think IE 6 after SP2 update is really OK. The pop up blocker is very good, but not excellent, as one already mentioned. Also, with SP2 installed, DEP (Data Execution Prevention) can prevent some .exe from running, (DEP is preventing some people from running auto updates .exe at some sites such as Creative Labs' with their driver auto update), but as you find out how to manage DEP through the DEP tab (System Properties Advanced Tab/Performance Settings/ Data Execution Prevention Tab), you can select what you want to run.

Still, some people wont install SP2 yet. They claim it messes up their system; games dont run as well and so forth. And some just want to make sure some of the bugs are out. Heck, the beta testers hopefully narrowed down major bug problems.

Oh yeah, sometimes if you go to a site to download something (say like quicktime player, for instance), IE6 will block the download, but right under the toolbar, there is a thin yellow strip you can click on to select to download the file. It took me a while to find that out. Maybe it can help someone else.

Anyway, I think IE is improved considerably.

yea, i never had a problem with IE. i can control what i do on the internet, so i was never worried.

the problem is, IE got screwed up, and i had to uninstall it...with no chance to get my bookmarks

I've always used IE, up until last week when I finally decided to give Firefox a try since I've heard so much about it, and I'm really pleased. I think more than anything else it is the tabbed browsing that is keeping me pleased with firefox, otherwise I don't think I'd notice much of a difference.
