I've been using Object Desktop for a few years. In fact, on XP, WindowBlinds uses less memory than XP's Theme Manager! I usually go into the options in Stardock Central and uncheck use MCP Startup and the taskbar helper (something like that, don't recall exactly). This way, there's nothing running from Object Desktop except for when I'm using a WindowBlinds skin. And, when I am using a skin, I'm actually saving resources from the XP default Theme Manager stuff! Trying it is free. You may not go back once you see all the stuff you can do.

Yeah but I had so much trouble trying to get the darned thing working...its so much work and then when you wanna change themes, you have to go through all that AGAIN.

plus then Trillian never follows the same skin theme and I have to go look one up for THAT which is annoying to say the least.

ive pretty much given up on windowblinds i think.

I use ObjectDock Plus, WindowBlinds, and DesktopX. Overall my system performance isn't impacted that much at all; I was surprised on how 'lite' they are as far as system resources but I disable them before any type of gaming.

The new version of DesktopX (2.2) is really fast, especially during startup and shouldn't cause any performance issues. The new build of WindowBlinds (4.4) was also just released and is supposedly even faster than 4.3. I love ODP as well.

Overall I'd recommend Stardock apps to even hardware resource 'weary' gamers. They can always be easily disabled before gaming.

I concur. StyleXP was a bit to plain for my tastes. WindowBlinds is more advanced and has a better skinning 'method' in my opinion.

I never said Windowblinds is bad in any way and its definitely more feature-rich but I always notice little bugs on it here and there and it seems a little slower. Plus I'm a huge fan of the ChaNinja styles for StlyleXP so I have no choice

Don't worry dipstick it wasn't an attack.

As for the bugs which version of WB did you try? The lastest versions have been really fast; especially with a decent video card and hyperpainting enabled. 4.3 is good and I still have to try the new 4.4 build.

... AND there's a ChaNinja skin for WindowBlinds as well! I love that one.
