Power Outage Windows Scan Disk

Hey, my power went out last nite so my comp went off without shutting down normally, then i restarted after it went back on.. and it went off again, lol. Anyway should I run a scandisk whenever something like this happens? I remember windows 98 (and even windows 2000 I think) used to auto scandisk, why doesn't XP do this?

Windows XP will run check disk when it feels like it's needed, especially if it was in the middle of writting something when the computer got shut off. If your computer rebooted and it didn't come up then it felt like it didn't need to run, although you can run it yourself manually to be sure.
