Default Post Was XP service pack 1 too much of a rush job?

After a flurry of Security fixes, then seeing this!

Did Mr Burns rush the job again, with the amount of public beta testing done on sp1 you wouldn't expect so many fixes or to see beta's of sp2 floating round already

Seems that the Peeps over @ Hyparzone have got themselves a Screenshot of Internet Explorer 7 Beta Build 2462? Here's what their saying.
New version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer has been leaked. This is version 7 Build 2462. There has been new security updates and new many features, but the toolbar hasn't been improved much, except some minor tweaks and You can see the integrated popup features. The screenshots are up. But due to resolution problems, the screenshot is best not viewed in a browser. That's why its zipped and ready for download.
Look The Screenshot

Note: This is a beta version of IE 7 was from a half finished version of Windows XP Service Pack 2.
what do you think of this?

I reckon we are looking at a christmas release of sp2(or what ever name they give it) including DX9, WMP9/Corona & IE7..just in time for Nvidia, to have the NV30 ready for release & a couple of games with DX9 support?

well alot of people I know and have read have been complaining about system performance being WORSE with the SP1 build but personally I havent had this problem........ nevertheless its not beyond the realms of possibilty that MS have indeed cocked up again. I mean look at their history to date, its not exactly awe inspiring is it?

I cant confirm or deny the jpg image that is being posted regarding IE7, but I always keep an open mind........

It's an open secret that companies work on consecutive service packs at the same time.

Heck, I do this at work with my product.

However, MS traditionally at least 6 months - a year between SP's and cover the interim with hotfixes. So the fact they are working on SP2 is pretty much a given. It's the fact that it's at Beta 2 stage I find very very dubious.

My system performance has been a lot smoother since sp1.

That 1602 build is just replacment for comments what stand there... If you don't believe me for some reason, look at Winbeta.org.

Hey can you post a link to article on winbeta you refer to, as I'm scratching my head looking, It does look a bit fishy looking at the build numbers

Still dosen't negate fact that MS are going to release WMP9 & DX9, & possibly IE7? I'm still guessing that it will be in the form of a service pack!

Don't worry found the link myself!

http://www.winbeta.org/modules.php?n...rticle&sid=356

now we've got over that, back to original question of do we think sp1 was rush JOB
