What is this?
This is a system for fully automating the installation of Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003.

Features include:

* Automated install of OS, hotfixes, and applications
* Full documentation and source code
* Support for floppy, CD-ROM, and "nothing but net" installs
* True unattended installation, not disk imaging
* No Windows servers required; use your Unix servers instead
* No Unix servers required; use your Windows servers after all
* Completely free

When you are finished setting up Unattended, you will be able to boot any PC from a floppy, from a CD-ROM, or directly from the network, answer a few questions, and come back an hour or two later to a fully-installed Windows workstation.

Have you tried this? Looks interesting, but the manual method of making this is pretty much as simple as 1-2-3 to me.

Nice little gadget, but I do prefer the Ghost + Sysprep combo with Symantec Ghost 8 Corp. I can get 110 machines up and running in 20 minutes (ok... 50 minutes, but that's because of 5 old PII). Just ghost a system that has the lowest CPU / HDD, run sysprep and multicast ghost to all the pc's you need and voila, a clean validated network (FDA approved too). Faster deployment and safer than updating systems with patches manually or by deploying them silently.

It really depends on the type of situation you're in. Sysprep+Disk imaging is great if the systems are relatively the same. I still adore my unattended DVD

Don't compare the method or a way of doing thing to another method.

Don't tell me that one method is easier than the others

How long before you find or get used to whatever method that you are using ?
