Random Restarts(Blue Screen Report Inside)
Well, Ive been getting random restarts for a while now.
Sometimes it will blue screen, sometimes it wont(Most of the time it wont). So, about 10 minutes ago I got a blue screen, so I decided to write down the junk that was on there and here it is: 0x000000D1 {0xF5E5200, 0x000000FF, 0x0000000, 0xF5E5600} At the top it said, IRQL_DRIVER_SOMETHING_SOMETHING(Didnt get enough time to write it down) Anyone know what it means? |

0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile. I doubt its bad ram, as it has been fine for the last year.
I tried the things suggested, and it was working. Then when I let my guard down. Boom. Restarted. I havent the slightest idea what this could be. Its so arbitrary. |

I am not sure if i was getting the exact same error or not, but I was getting the IRQL driver message and had no clue what it was. After some heavy searching on my computer I finally found out that the firewall i had was using a "driver" (comfiltr.sys) and it became corrupted somehow. I uninstalled the firewall, got a new one and everything has been fine since. At the time i was using panda antivirus/firewall and switched to mcafee.

You may receive the following error message on a blue screen on your Windows XP-based computer with the WRQ AtGuard firewall program installed:

Ive determined its hardware.
I did a clean boot. Then as I was searching the net for my Video Driver. Boom, Restart. I setup a service for it to be sent in...but I really wish I could fix it here, since WoW is coming. One of my friends said it sounded like my power supply was going bad. While others suggest the memory is going bad. |

do some more test on the system before determining..
try one of these.., one thing at a time, you can choose which's one to be your first test/try, and see if one of these helps.. doing a clean boot and see.., recreating your pagefile, and to use the default settings, uninstalling your antivirus program and others background programs, updating/reinstalling your video card drivers, backup your files then re-formatting the OS partition and do a new OS setup, if you have more than one stick of RAM then remove one and see, but if you only have one stick in the system then you might want to get ones from your friend, replace and test your system. you can also try to get a softwere that can test your RAM and test it. normally it is RAM problem causing a lot of this troubles, i used to have many of those like half year ago, but i fixed it by setting "plug and play aware OS" in the bios to NO, also u can try removing all the pci cards and other things that are not necessary to normal operation of the computer and then try and see if u get the same error
anyway just to be sure u should set "dont restart automatically after system error" u can set it on control panel > system properties > advanced options > start and recovery and then just untick ehre it says "restart automatically" (sorry my windows is in spanish if you dont understand) it should let you see the blue screen without restarting and u can tell us more about that mistake, like what file was the problem. (if it tells any file anyway)

Re:
I too recently had a problem with random reboots. I tried all sort of things thinking it was hardware related as I just added a second hard drive. Then I went to Safe mode and the reboots stopped. So I thought it was then software related as it was fine in safe mode.
Long story short, it was my anti-virus software that when I did a recent update on that's when the reboots started. McAfee 7.xxxx, I change to 8.0 and the reboots stopped. It was a very strange experience |

I didn't know Panda were making firewalls. :-) I use Kerio and I am more or less satisfied with it.
I am glad you found the problem (solution), I wouldn't think about that. How did manage to locate it? I would think first of all any installation of new drivers.
