Though not officially released you can d/l a copy of the beta 3, in my opinion so far it was very worth it. I have noticed exceptional increased in performance from games like Unreal 2003. I can now run with everthing on, including AA and filtering plus bumping up the rez and the game runs very smooth. Talking about smooth games also look better and smoother is one the things I noticed
Anyway's from what I have seen it looks like Dx9 is going to be something special and that is why MS is trying to keep it under wraps Here is the Url:http://xpnet.matrixcrew.net/index.php You can try it yourself at your own risk...lol but touch wood so far I have not had any problems and it has fixed many problems I had in XP previously ![]() Though also bear in mind that the Radeon 9700 peice of hardware with a Dx9 feature set

I tend to agree m8, but as I said it is at your own risk
, but I think for a change that MS is onto something with this one. I suppose the best advice is, if you kit is working then avoid, but if you have XP like I have then you cna do a rollback

I didn't recommend them, I just gave an opinion on what I believe is a good thing. If you had read my previous posts then you will know that I said use at your own risk
and you can remove them if you have XP, all you have to do is use system restore. I have already done it.

Well there was a uninstaller for beta 1 and beta 2, so maybe there is one for beta 3. Also there are uninstallers for DX 8.1 and older.

If there is an Unistaller for the 9xx series post the links .
I was searching the net for 2 hours the other day and didnt find anything other than the older version uninstallers/removers. BTW most ppl do not use XP yet so system restore isnt an option. Also note that sytem restore can also cause alot of problems itself. And yes i did read your post but when you talk about speed increase etc. in a board like this where most of the users arent that experienced they tend to hang on to words like that and ....well you know what happens. In other words be VERY carefull about stuff that is in fact beta and can react differenty on one others system compared to yours. |

I wouldn't worry about the deadline, as the next releases genrally come out b4 the beta trail runs out, I expect Dx9, WMP9, & possibly ie7 will be released together (pure speculation, but makes sense). I haven't seen an uninstaller kicking about either, but there again I always have a backup handy
Has anyone put the date forward to see if it stops working?I'll be back ![]() I'm back, it works untill 8/1/2003 or 1/8/2003 if your american, so no worries!

I removed it with system restore and I checked my DX diag and everything is back to Dx 8.1 but some thing are still on Dx 9
Doesn't seem to be affecting my system if anything things are performing better.Oh and I cant wait to see the final release of Media player 9 also and yes it would make sense to release both at the same time
