Problems w/ IE and Flash (I think)?
I have been having issues w/ pages not showing up correctly, and I am pretty sure its a flash/security issue. For example on this page the top box below the driverheaven shows up black w/ a red "x" in the corner, and the bottom rectangle is just a black box. I tried changing security settings wiping out my hosts file, I reset all my IE stuff back to default, I DLed a standalone flash installer and no luck. When I go here
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/...com/flash.html In the white box it says macromedia flash player, and below that is a big white space w/ a red "x". I do not get any prompts to install anything the page just loads like that and says done. I dont get any security messages or anything either. I went to "manage my addons" in IE and I do not see the flash player or shockwave player listed anywhere even after I installed the standalone flash player. I also have a game that has a shockwave and flashplayer installer I tried that w/ no luck as well. I am clueless as to whats going on.

Sounds like a flash issue. Try an alternate browser and see if flash works. If it does, try repairing the ie install or doing an update from the ms site.

D/L and run the "Flash Player Uninstaller" for IE, then re-install it, Installer/Flash Player 7 on the same page. allow to install ActiveX control during the installing. |

I fixed the problem kinda by accident. I had already dled the uninstaller and when i ran it, it said this publisher is not allowed to run content on your pc or something like that. Somehow macromedia got listed as both a trusted and untrusted published. I removed them from the untrusted list, uninstalled what i had, then went back to the macromedia main page and the player dled and installed w/o a problem.
Thanks for the help
