thats interesting indeed, thanks. I thought the posts on the forum updated even with "check documents" set to 1 hour or higher.

There's no shame in tips! Opera has so much stuff in it! You have to pour it all out. I know of the features you speak of and I don't use half of them LOL.. It's especially difficult to browse with classic IE without mouse gestures, I find myself using the mouse gestures and staring at the screen with disappointment cuz the page didn't go back.

I'm way worse, I do mouse gestures in windows explorer. Off to do christmas shopping, I'll be back tonight.

rmb + down gesture to open a new window
rmb + down then right gesture (an L) to close a window.

Regarding validating sites, ctrl+alt+v redirects to the W3 page in Opera.

The problem with needing to hit back twice because of the second ad seems to be fixed in the 7.60 previews (testing with build 7364c), I haven't had any problems with it in quite a while.

it might be because you block ads on pages that have many ads on it, then when you hit the browser back button, another request is made for each of those ads's links.

Thanks, that has solved the double back issue from before. now to see whats different.

I see they moved the speed and image info into the URL bar at the top from the bottom..... I quite liked it at the bottom.

Customize toolbars > toolbars > progress bar > pop-up at bottom of page

I think that was the first thing I changed when I installed the preview.

It's great. I use the Tobs Theatre Blue theme and it matches my windows theme _perfectly_. I do use firefox on occasion but opera's had my heart for at least a year now. http://users.megapathdsl.net/~joe00100/opera.JPG , too lazy to resize and I don't wanna spam the dialup'ers.

Damn guys, I was just contemplating installing opera again (i've always been at a toss up between opera and firefox) but this thread is getting me excited. So Zardon, the ad problem is fixed with that 7.6 beta (the double click thing)? That was the only thing that bothered me with the last build I was using (7.x) and although it was not too bad in dh, other forums (emutalk.net for one) was horrible.

One question for the opera gurus, what is the best option for opera's identification - as IE or as opera; and why? It didn't seem to change page compatibility for me at all on a prior build.

Normally you should use Opera. It is just what is sent with your http requests stating your browser and OS and such. Some sites will serve content specific to your browser, for example a diff style form for non-ie users, etc..I'd suggest using Opera unless a site refuses to load without IE, then try setting it to IE..Though honestly, as you said, it really does not help page compatibility much in general..It's completely site specific AFAIK.

Yeah, set it to indentify as Opera, that way sites get more accurate statistics, other than a MS sites, very few of them target Opera specifically.

And the headers aren't completely spoofed, so any determined webmaster can detect someone using Opera anyway. (as MS sites do)

I can't wait for 7.6 to release so I can start using it. Anyone beta testing it have a time frame for an official release?

Only Opera has internal roadmaps for releases of new versions of Opera. but the infomation will not be made public. i don't think beta testers have the info...

This beta is really solid Andrew, havent had an issue with it yet. Well worth an install and it solves the annoying "double click back" problem.

for people who already installed the Opera 7.60 technical preview 4 for Windows, make sure you have the up-to-date installer packaged which's build "7364c". not the previous installer build 7364 or 7364b.

and on behalf of all the Opera fans, Thanks to Zardon to put the D/L link up...

Wow this is a nice build...it's great even at stock. I've definitely had some fun customizing this, as there is so much to play around with The only problem I"ve had so far is some incompatibility with hotmail where it won't delete or change stuff in the junk mail folder. The popup to confirm comes up, but when I push ok, nothing happens. Cancel works fine though...anybody have any info about this?

EDIT: nevermind, found some info here

saw you found the info. this is known bug/problems with the specific site, the problem is with JavaScript of the page's web page dialog. i've seen this issue has been going on for a long time now in the Opera community's forums. hopefully, this will/can be fixed soon. i'd use IE for the site, for now.

Opera still having problem with some web sites which's causing a problem most noticeably about .css and JavaScript, there're many of the Opera users out there who understands the real problem behind it and so they live with it, but there're also many people that don't understand, won't/don't accept it and lays the blame on the browser.

It's not a huge deal...you can still delete stuff from your inbox, and the junk mail folder gets cleared every so often anyway. A minor inconvenience but so far, the only one. This build is amazing...there's so much polish and choice.
