It's not flush to the right by default, I'll see if I can find how to make it flush to the right though.

you probably get used to and so in love with the Mozilla, you use it so long, maybe too long. i use the new K-Meleon 9 right now myself.
for the Opera browser i would say the last Opera beta build 7401 is the best build i ever use. but you can try the stable rel 7.54u anyway.. |

Don't get me wrong, it has a lot of good features. I used to use Opera back in the old days, it was good then too.
But I've never found a "perfect" browser. Each one seems to have advantages over others, but also flaws that the others don't. And this Opera 8 beta is the same way. To start with, it doesn't even seem to work right with DH.
If anyone has fixes for these, it would be a good start Or I can just download a different version of Opera, suggest one.

i understand and don't get me wrong as well, my words sometimes too strong lol..
i'm not sure why you still get "to click Back twice to go back to a page" since i never this problem, nomatter what version of Opera i use, but for the rest 2 problems you mentioned, if that's a problem for you then i believe you'd get same problems on the v7.54u. all i can say, the Opera offers a lot of goodies, IMO. try to forget all the things that it can't do well or like others can. or forget about it now, wait till the next versions came out then give it a try again.. trying to make sense but maybe not. lol. i don't do much of anything else over the internet but browsing around.. the Opera is always on the top of the others when i use it.. i admit when using Opera i'll sure still get some of broken sites here and there, but it's a very fun when using it and like many Opera users may have said, i may like Mozilla but i love Opera. |

seems like a long shot but are you blocking flash with a third party application? some offer this to reduce the amount of crap you get with daily internet usage.

go to Add/Remove and remove Opera again, Select "Custom" uninstall method, then "Select All" items to remove on every pages, and finished up the uninstall.
after that, go to C:\Docs and Settings\<your windows login name>\Application Data\ and see if you have the Opera folder there, if you do, delete it and reinstall the Opera beta again and see. |

C:\Docs and Settings\<your windows login name>\Application Data\ is a hidden folder
if you find the Opera folder there after you show all the hidden files/folders... redo the steps i mentioned above. and see. |

i found a bug in Opera beta build 7401, that the custom buttons won't stay in the customize applet after you D/L it and close the applet, some of it are gone and you can't reuse them...
![]() here's a fix for this problem/bug.. go to \profile\toolbar then backup the file called ...toolbar.ini and add/modify the file under the section [Customize Toolbar Custom.content] -Or- you can copy and rename the orinal/standard ones and modify the contains information and use it as you custom toolbar.ini ![]() then open the Pref. applet and choose the custom .ini you want to use.. ![]() these are the enries for the custom buttons you see in the above pic.. Code:
[INFO] NAME=panging_toolbar <- change to whatever name you want to use for your toolbar ini file. I noticed some of you don't have the X buttons on each tab, for closing them. Is there a way I can get rid of them?

Thanks! never would have guessed it
![]() Damn, it makes the tabs smaller too. Is there any way to make the default tab size any bigger? Also, can anyone tell me if there's any way to change what tab it switches to, when you close the one you're currently on? Currently, it switches to the last one you looked at. I'd like it to switch to one that's right next to it. Any info on this? One more: any way to turn off middle-click scrolling?

Add an entry in skin.ini to increase the tab size.
[Options] Pagebar max button width = xxx Page closing: Mouse gesture (prefs > mouse and keyboard > mouse setup > edit > application): GestureDown, GestureRight - Close page & Switch to next page Key Command (prefs > mouse and keyboard > keyboard setup > edit > application): w ctrl - Close page & Switch to next page Menu - edit menu.ini[1] and find "Close page" and replace with "Close page & Switch to next page" BTW, I usually just use "1" and "2" on the numpad to navigate through tabs, which it does very quickly, so the order of them doesn't matter all that much. By middle click scrolling you mean the normal scroll wheel? I don't think it's possible to disable it via Opera.

Thanks for all your help!
![]() What do I do if I don't have a skin.ini? The "Close page & Switch to next page" setting does the trick, except when you're on the right-most tab and close it, it goes back to the leftmost tab. Is there a way to define middle-click-closing a tab, in the same manner? That 1 and 2 navigation is nifty, but still takes way too much time for me. By middle-click scrolling, I mean when you click the mouse wheel (not turn it) on a non-hyperlink area of a page, the pointer changes to a 4-directional arrow in the center of the screen. Then when you move it away from the center, it begins scrolling the page in the direction that you've moved it. I want to disable that behaviour. I must say, some of these Preference settings are not very intuitive

If you using a skin, you've got a skin.ini file.
![]() For the default skin, you have to take it out of the standard_skin.zip file under the skins folder, change it, and repack it. Not sure about the middle click thingy, searching through all the ini files, I didn't see anything. I'm pretty sure that that method of scrolling can't be disabled as of now through Opera in Windows. It works fine on my Linux installation of Opera though, without panning. I'm actually pretty happy with Opera's customizability, but agree that it could be improved for users like yourself who just want to change little things, without sifting through ini files or the like.

Thanks.
I do like the browser as a whole, it's quick and responsive, and you can customize toolbars/panels/etc to your heart's content. Even seems to use a little less CPU than some other browsers. They do need to work a little on the user-friendliness aspect, if they're expecting people to actually shell out money or put up with ads, for a web browser. That edit mouse setup dialog is just silly. It would make sense to have a drop-down list of available Actions, not a simple text field for you to type them in. How am I supposed to know what are valid Actions I can type there? I hope that's just a Beta issue. From a productivity standpoint, there are hurdles that slow me down in Opera. This is not a fault of the browser per se, but mainly because of my personal browsing style. I middle-click several links to open separate tabs for each of them, then set about reading them one by one. I need a single click to close the one I've finished reading, and give me one I haven't yet read. If I try to middle-click a link and I miss it, I don't want the pointer being yanked away to the center of the screen and make me travel all the way back to that link. I was very interested when I saw everyone talking about "the most customizable browser" . . . I was expecting something that went beyond everything I could imagine. But, some of the things I'd like to have, are still outside the scope of Opera's customization abilities. It's not a bad thing that its style is the way it is. It's good that there are several browsers, each with a different feel. Surely helps satisfy more people's tastes, by having diverse browsers. Of course, the browser really should be able to render sites correctly and work correctly with whatever fancy coding the pages use. I mean Opera should at least be as functional in that regard as Mozilla/Firefox (let alone IE), if they want your money/screen area for ads. My ideal browser would be one that you could customize everything about it. Every person could have everything set just the way they want it. Of course it would probably be a nightmare creating such a browser, so I'm not holding my breath. ![]() Anyway, I'm gonna still work on Opera, update it now and then, try to get it to jump through my hoops, etc. I'm not giving up on this baby yet, there's a lot of power under its hood.
