Error Help!!!

I get the following error on a comp I just built when trying to boot from the windows cd:
NTLDR is missing
Press any key to reboot

I set it to boot from the cdrom drive so it should work, what did I do wrong?

System Specs

is it full version?
is it legal version?
do you have any scratches?
did you slipstream sp1 or 2?
all of mobo floppy based(if any)drivers installed?

if you have onboard stuff enabled that you are running external periferals of then disable onboard stuff.sound,gpu,ethernet,etc.

Uh, how do you tell? It's really shiny silver thing, says "for distribution with a new pc only" on it, sooo, oem cd?

yes it is oem cd,but unless it also says dell or some other oem pc maker then it is a true copy.i was just wondering cause sometimes people try installing restore disks from another pc and it dont work right.your good though.

the only other thing i can think of is that your cd/dvd drive is not reading correctly.

It's mostly because you had old OS.

if you were truly booting the PC from the CD, then the NTLDR on the HDD is not involved, and if this is a clean Install, and i'm not mistaking, then you should get to a screen that says 'Setup is inspecting your computer's......'
check your CD drive and disc.
