doom virus

i know i have asked tons of questions but this one is scairy for me. I got the Sata drivers off my mom computer for reforamting wheni got the worm. I was on her computer and i saw that the mydoom virus was in her quatrine. I know the virus is spreaded thoguh email and p2p. can it be spread by that floppy with the sata drivers.I also scanned with a couple virus scanners after i notice that and there is no sign of the virus. There also is no spyware adware. It just worries me because i know this virus is considered the most dangerous one out there right now.

Diskette is one of the most likely virus entry points, viruses can spread when using and swapping other people's diskettes for carrying files and programs back and forth. the answer to above question is - yes, if the Windows systems do not have a proper anti-virus protection and you tranfer an infected file from other or over the other system with a diskette.

MyDoom, Novarg, or previously known as MyMail-R is a mass-mailing worm that has the ability to generate random email subjects, message bodies and attachment file names. This worm also has backdoor capabilities.

you really should delete it from quarentine.. make a fresh restore windows point.. go into disk cleanup and delete the old restore points to aviod reinfection on the machine....

W32.Mydoom.B@mm is a mass-mailing worm that arrives as an attachment with the file extension .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip.

When a computer is infected, the worm will set up a backdoor into the system, which can potentially allow an attacker to connect to the computer and use it as a proxy to gain access to its network resources.

In addition, the backdoor can download and execute arbitrary files.

The worm will perform a Denial of Service (DoS) against www.microsoft.com starting February 3, 2004 and www.sco.com starting February 1, 2004. It also has a trigger date to stop spreading on March 1, 2004. These events will only occur if the worm is run between or after those dates. While the worm will stop spreading on March 1, 2004, the backdoor component will continue to function after this date.

will do last night i did a virus scan with avg, pc chilen, Norton. All of those have said no virus usually what i learned if i had one from before is that one program might not be able to idenify the virus sig. But another program might be able picks its sig up. I love A+ but they dont go into far troubleshooting on this. They just said do a reformat. But i want to thank alt for his help i doubt i am infected. But will do it when i get home i am at school right now
