On-Screen Progs. Disappear After Screen Saver
A friend of mine has a problem which has me stumped.
It doesn't happen every time but some times windows she has open from any program disppears when she comes back out of her screen saver. From what I understand the program is closed, but it also happens /w AIM too, but AIM doesn't shut down. Normally she wiggles her mouse to bring the computer back up, nothing odd about that. I've told her to try her keyboard instead, since it maybe some weird function of Intellipoint. Do you folks have any idea's? |

like all the aim windows are gone, plus the tray icon? Does it still run in the service/program in the task manager? I know one of the most frustrating things about helping people with computers is not being able to use it and test out the problem. If you have access to her comp, test it out.

Turn AntiAliasing off and see if that helps. Some programs(particularly java based ones) will sometimes crash on the paint sequence in AA is enabled and switches on/off(like going to a fullscreen 3d app, such as a screen saver)

have seen a few of same problem, but just don't have any idea what could have caused these.
try selecting the On resume, password protect. this may causes the screensaver to run on its own desktop instead of running on the default desktop, (not certain about this info on XP), but this might help. Quote:

Alright folks thanks for info. However, she does have a AIW 9600 but I dont' think she has AA turned on. I haven't been to her apartment in over a month since she lives a bout a hour from me. However, I've never seen it do it myself. I'll pass long the info.
BTW, I'm not quite sure if AIM disappears all together or not. I think she means just the windows she has open for it disappears. |
