Gone back to IE

Its true - after more than 18 months of using browsers such as Firefox, Opera and more recently Maxthon, I've bitten the bullet and gone back to using IE6.

It saddens me slightly as I loved the tabbed browsing features of all the other browsers and apparent security features but over the last few weeks I have been getting tired of each browser showing its own flaws in not being able to show pages properly.

The wierdest thing is my work email which is provided through a webmail interface. Works fine ie and Maxthon - doesn't work at all in Opera and in Firefox, the interface becomes so different I'm not even sure that I'm looking at my actual account.

For now though I want 100% compatible browsing and so I have to go back to Microsofts little baby much as I dont want to.

there is no perfect browser now. I use FF and IE. I guess you'll have to try out IE7 when it comes out this summer.

your problems probably stem from ActiveX or VB Script errors. that's just one of those things with web apps.

I hope IE7 has tabbed browsing... Then I might abandon Firefox but for the moment, that little fox is all mine!

Many people think the same thing, anyway Maxthon lets you have tabbed browsing with IE code. As for "security" - firefox has had MASSIVE issues lately.

IE7 is supposed to have tabbed browsing, among other things.

At the end of the day, no browser will be 100% secure as everytime a new version or patch is released, someone, somewhere will find a vunrability and a way to exploit it.

I just got so sick of having to switch between browsers for different sites. Looking forward to IE7

I have found myself more frequently using IE. Some of the quirks in FF have just gotten to be an annoyance. The thing I get sick of in IE, is all the nagging the browser does when you download stuff, etc.

I hate the look and cheap design with modded IE's, regular IE doesn't have tabs, opera sucks with gmail a bit and with sometimes replying through these forums. All I have left is crappy firefox.

Tried all of them mate. Avant I just cant get used to and netscape has many of the same page incompatibilities as Firefox.

"not being able to display pages properly"... lol thats just ignorant.

the problem isn't the browsers, but the pages themselves, that were coded strictly for IE back in the days after netscape died and before there were any other viable alternatives...
most new-ish pages these days use xml and show up fine in all browser flavours...
