Micron Transport Boot problems

I have this Micron transport trek 2, way old, ancient computer, that i need to reload with windows 2000. every time i power on the laptop, i get an "operating system not found". it won't read the windows cd, nor recognize the cd rom in the bios. i can't think of anything to do except trash it, but that is not acceptable since my squadron is all ready short like 9 computers. any suggestions?

To resolve the "Operating System Not Found" error message when you try to boot your PC with a CD-ROM...

- make sure that your BIOS is set to boot from CD before HDD, and update you BIOS if needed.
- to work around this issue, start the Windows 2000 setup from floppy disks.

-----

"Operating System Not Found" or "Missing operating system" error message when you start your Windows XP-based computer. This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
- The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
- The hard disk is damaged.
- Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed Master Boot Record (MBR).

Note: Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
- An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
- A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.

Resolution
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods,
see in this article(most of info in article is also applied to Win 2000), depending on your situation.

The laptop wont even recognize the cdrom. So when i boot from the floppy disks, i get into the setup but then i don't have the cdrom reading the disk to finish setup. i'm not sure these things are worth the trouble. thanks for the help
