"Power calibration error" is an error message that can originate from the unit itself. It's likely that it has failed on the hardware level, or is getting there. Try some light cleaning and another type of media.

have you tried updating your drivers and firmware? it seems like a power calibration error is definetely a harware level problem. I was getting similar errors with a burner right before it bombed on me. I got a new DVD-burner and was having some burning stability problems and an update of the firmware and it worked great (and still does). As far as Kazaalite goes, reinstall it or scrap it and get another program.

i figured that particular problem out, the cd's were burn fail's, previously burned cd but failed so i guess the computer saw them as "blank" so i went to put them in and they wouldnt burn i put a brand new cd in and viola it worked.... now another question, the software on the DH homepage "tune xp" can anyone tell me anything about it? does it really make a difference, hard to configure? any notes on it?

It is a good program, real easy to configure (a monkey could do it) Basically it changes a few registry settings to optimise windows. It will help your boot time quite substantially in most cases. Read the help files and it explains everything. It hasn't been updated in a while (come to think about it, I wonder what happened). Anyway, it is worth a shot, it will help you. Don't expect to see a substantial increase in anything, but overall, it works real well.
