Does Microsoft hate me now?
I installed daemon tools (virtual cdrom) to burn ultimate tools cd and did reboot. Up popped up a message saying 3days to get new cd key. I phoned support and they did give me a number, but asked pointedly if I had it installed on 2 computers. I explained that main hd failed so I now had 2 bootable hds and as I was upgrading my memory and having some problems - it was handy having a second os. Also helps with virus stuff.....
So am I now in for a big brother phone call, everytime I reinstall? ![]() Also any good sites for info on how to create a xp home sp2 disc? Thanks |

Yep a woman, but I would say the call station is likely in India. Must be crap pay I guess. Anyways makes me almost feel guilty for buying their OS. Thanks for the info.
edit: and don't think I do know the meaning fear. (new game?) |

It's come to the point that my first XP CD I bought has been reinstalled so many times that I now get that prompt that I have to call to get a new install number. I've done that twice so far and it's only taken about 20 minutes each time. However, it seems if I wait awhile between calls I just might be able to install it without the call. At least that was the case one time between the two calls.

Proof that Microsoft hates all their customers and that you're no special.
![]() Btw, if you have downloaded SP2 and want to have a shot at making an installation disc with SP2 integrated, try nLite: http://nuhi.msfn.org/ It will speed up the installation so that you can spend more time on the phone.

thanks for the link.
Still I am quite sure that it is me that Microsoft hates. I must have done something bad in my past lives. ... So I must learn linux (have tried a couple of times and couldn't even install drivers).
