What I would like to do is to get rid of this message box saying "your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page", and so on. (image later, photobucket maintenance) It's irritating to have it show up when you know very well that you don't want ActiveX controls running at that moment.

Use something like Proxomitron to filter them out?
http://proximodo.sourceforge.net/ - Proximodo is a possible, more recent alternative |

I'll certainly give that one a look. Nice to see something picking up from old Proxo.

You have to edit a file with Resource Hacker.
The resource is located in SHDOCLC.DLL (windows\system32). Open this file in Resource Hacker, scroll down to the String Table - Resource ID 503, String 8033 or search for text "your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page". Delete that line, recompile and save. Opera and Firefox are much better than IE for most sites. |
