folder-problems
hi, im from germany,
i downloaded ans installed tuneXP adn freshUI. i changed some settings and rebooted the system, and then: i cannot open my folders, only when i click on "my documents" or "work station"( im not sure, if this are the names in english windows-systems, but if you dont know, what folders i mean: this folders are the standard folders, in "my documents" there you can find folders like "my downloads", "my pictures" etc. and in "work station" (its icon is a monitor) you can see the drives "C:", "D:" etc.) ok, only when i doubleclick on one of them, the explorer starts, but it has open the search-bar, so i have to cloase the search and have to browse ahead to the folder i want to open, only then i can see my folder. i restored my old settings at freshUI but it hadnt changed after rebooting. so, what had happened? was it tuneXP? what have i to do? please help edit: when i want to open a shortcut to a folder, windows says, the folder cant be found |

![]() 2. only when i then open "my computer" or "my documents", i'll see this: ![]() i never use both programs that you mentioned in your first post. but whatever you had applied the programs did change the Windows registry... so i'd like to know... what was the name of the tweaks that you had applied before ? |

in freshUI i nearly changed something,
when i noticed the problem, i restored the settings as they was before. it were only settings like empty the cache of internet explorer and cookies etc. i didnt want to see the last active user and the only folder-options were "speed-up access to avi file media" and "disable ntfs last access update" but all changes i made, were canceled, when i restored the old settings, so im helpless

if you used the programs to tweak some of your registry settings. and then you undo some of tweaks... and all of these problems just popped up??
then, the name of the tweaks are just the name and something that the programs tells you what it can/will do for you... this does not mean the programs will or actually do it right. i wish i can help but i've never seen anything like this, and i don't know how the programs works. |

not the user account with Admin privilege,
i mean, Are you now using the real built-in Administrator account ? if so, log on the Windows using other user account/profile or, create a new account and log on under the new account and see. |

that's not necessary means that you're now logging on as the built-in Administrator.
did you change the Administrator name? do you see the Administrator name at the welcome screen? what is the user name showing on start menu? Administrator? |

for Windows XP Pro...
at the screen which shows your user name you created press Ctrl + Alt + Del 2 times. you will then see the normal logon screen. type in the user Administrator, and the password if you enter it during the Windows installation. otherwise, just leave password blank. and you should be able to log on and Windows will create a new profile for the built-in Administrator. if you use classic log in screen just change user name from the current one to Administrator and log in... |

you say "for winXP pro", i have "only" win XP home edition with service pack 2.
my name is "CyberP" of the account. i dont understand, what the difference is, when im adminstartot with the name "administartor" it should be the same. by the first logon windows said, hi, how do you want to name your account, and i changed the name andministartor to cyberp. but i will test crtl + alt + del (what is in german: strg + alt + entf)^^ soon |

the Ctrl+Alt+Del 2 times at log in won't work.
Administrator in the XP Home Edition is a hidden account you can only access the account after starting XP in Safe mode. the account doesn't have a password unless you provided. |

no, reason to do that. no need to start the XP in Safe mode.
i thought you use XP Pro. that's why i want to see if this still happening under the real Admin account. as for the original problem, like i said i wish i can help you but i don't see how/what to go on.... registry is a huge databases. i can only give you a base registry settings IF i know what is causing that problem. |
