Hey guys,
A friend told me to ask in this forum a quesiton I asked him. I just recently installed XP professional, and was wondering if theres an option where you can shut down the computer and it will shut down itself rather than saying "now it is safe to turn off your computer" and you have to turn it off at the switch. My power button only works to turn on the computer and not off, so I have been turning off the computer at the power point. Thanks! |

you may have to tweak your registry.
first, please provide a brief spec of your hardwares. |

i guess his hardwares are all compatible... i won't wait for the spec and try this...
go to this page... Windows XP Shutdown & Restart Troubleshooting - http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm scroll down to section 'Powerdown Issues' read more info about the problem that you're having. and then follow sensible Registry editing protocol said on the page, after that, D/L “ShutNTdown” registry patch (shutntdown.reg) and import it into your registry. and reboot, and then shutdown your PC and see. manually edit your registry -- in Registry Editor go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon, on the right side of the viewing pane create a new String Value (REG_SZ) name it "PowerDownAfterShutdown", and give its value data = 1. if this value does already exist, then modify the value data from 0 to 1. this may help on your case. |
