[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"ForceClassicControlPanel"=dword:00000001 The setting can probably also be found by starting "gpedit.msc", somewhere... |

start>run> type "gpedit.msc"
go to 'user configuration'>'administrative templates'>'control panel' on the right there should be something that says 'force classic style control panel', double click it and configure it Ben

@redsolar,
Run Control command in the Run box is only to open the Control Panel applet, the command does not change the Control Panel's view ------------- Quote:
![]() HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer value name "ForceClassicControlPanel" give the value data according to the settings, 1 = Force classic view, 0 = Force category view (REG_DWORD value). note-- when add this registry setting the option to switch view will be removed (i think, this is what you are looking after?? UnTouchAble.)... To regain the option Delete the value name "ForceClassicControlPanel" from the regisrtry key. and if your registry is correctly working and no policy that control over has been used, then, changing the dword value data (according to the settings, 0 = classic view, 1 = category view) of value named "shell:ControlPanelFolder" which is found in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\WebView\BarricadedFolders.
