Does anyone know how to make your computer go straight to the desktop after installing microsoft .net framework 1.1 instead of having to click the icon? There is only one user for this computer but it still makes you click the stupid icon on startup before you can get to the desktop.

i forget exactly how to do it. You have to go to the Control Panel, and click under "User Accounts" or something like that. Then once that is open, you click on the option "change the way users log on or off" once that window has opened, uncheck the two options, and that should do it.

i had to delete some account that the .net created, even though i had it set to log in as admin. after i deleted the guest account i no longer needed to select what account to log in under.

I just download XP power toys and use auto logon.

X-Setup is also a tweak program you can use to do it.

your running old .net , early 1.1 or earlier creates a second user account

goto windowsupdate get the 1.1 sp1, when it done close the window
go back again to windows update and get the security update

the latest .net 1.1 doesn't create / use second windows account
niether will 2.0 (the betas don't either)

should go away if you update..... other wise you can safely remove the ASP.net user account OR use power tools and set your system to auto login to you account
