Ongoing File Protection confirmation
Hi,
Is there anything to do about the Windows File Protection pop up, wanting me to confirm the use of an unoriginal file like the patched uxtheme.dll? Everytime after reboot or logoff I have to confirm again I want to use the patched file. I use XP SP1 and before SP1 I only had to confirm once. I replaced both the file in my system32 folder and the servicepack/i386 folder (in Safe Mode, renaming them to .bak). Second question related to this is about the use of a patched shell32.dll. I also replaced the original shell32.dll in my system32 folder and sp/i386 folder. Apparently Windows downloads an original file from somewhere, cause after a while it is replaced by an original again. A search (including system and hidden files/folders) only shows the two originals to rename so I think it is downloaded at one point. TIA roma |
