DX9 and the DX control panel applet.....
After I installed the DX9 redistributable, and I looked in the DX diagnostic, it said that the control panel applet is old and may cause problems.
Well, I haven't noticed any problems, so to speak, but I'm wondering if there is one specific to DX9 I could get somewhere. I did a search on Google, but all I could find was the older DX8 applet..... As it is right now, I just pulled the file from windows/system just be be safe. Any ideas anyone? Do you think I should just ignore the "warning" in DXdiag? |

There shouldn't be any problems at all assuming you only use dxdiag to view file versions and whatnot and don't change settings.

Uhhh...I think I may have been unclear about what I was talking about, insomnia is getting the better of me.
I mean that little applet in the control panel that was originally for directx8, you know, that .cpl file that that had to be manually inserted into window/system that let you slide the debug levels up and down? DXdiag says it's out of date and may cause problems now that I'm at DX9. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know I COULD change anything within DXdiag, I just thought it was an information listing. I guess it's not THAT important, when I looked at it, it said all the debug levels were turned all the way down anyway. I was just wondering about it. Is it useless now? |

Dx Diag is that util...that you have to tweak to get in control panel (just cosmetic)....just goto run box & type dxdiag(its the same for 8 or 9)....and the tests are updated for DX9
![]() Just had thought have you installed final build of DX9 as the betas give error messages compalining about files not been final or retail..
