DX9: I don't know if anyone else noticed, but....
The dx9 interfaces seem to select optimal refresh rates by default: MS has finally decided to think of peoples eyes!
On my xp machine, in combination with the lastest nvidia ref drivers, programs using the new dx9 interfaces (like GunMetal) all automatically use the highest available refresh rate for the res they are set to. It also happens with the dx9 interfaces test in dxdiag. Why not disable your refresh rate fix and try it. I don't know if it needs a dx9 display driver or not. Maybe someone else can find out, eh? I'm just dissappointed they haven't made a work around for the dx7/8 interfaces or even openGL. Ah well, one step at a time. |

Not khz man - Kilohertz would mean it was 60,000 refreshes per second - which is beyond any monitor that I know of
The correct term is hz, or hertz - refreshes per second, vs. thousands of refreshes per second - and yes, there is a diffrence However, the horozontal refresh rate is measured in khz... but thats a slightly different story...

I'm sure there are more "Official" places to get it, but that dxwebsetup file is still on my little webspace. It's in a zipped form because my ISP won't allow .exe's to be hosted there.
Anyway, you can get it here: DX9 Web Installer |
