Office XP Serial change????
One of my daughters friend's at college installed XP Office Pro on her computer. From what I gather, she was given a CD that contained Office XP Pro and a couple choices of serial numbers, including the well used internet CD Key - which she DIDN'T use. Now, after the installation, when she starts Office, it says there are 40 days left for activation (or words to that effect).
Immediately following the above install, the girl's room mate installed Office XP Pro on her computer using the same CD but DID use the "popular" internet CD key. However, this installation doesn't ask for activation. It would seem that the CD Key the first gal used has triggered the request for activation, I gather. Sooo, my daughter does the "Let's ask 'ol Dad" routine. I don't use Office (nor any M$ software - except XP) so I don't have the foggiest idea of how to change the CD key except to uninstall and re-install using the CD Key that worked for the room mate. I tried to talk them into using a better Office Suite (Wordperfect 2002), but they're stuck in the M$ rut and need the Office XP install, it seems. Can anyone tell me: A. can you change the Office CD Key after Office is installed? B. If the answer to "A" is "Yup!!", what's the procedure?????? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Mark7 |
