Safely remove hardware icon in tray
Hey guys, just thought of something. With my new system, I get that little annoying icon for "Safely Remove Hardware" in the sys tray. The thing is, it for my Hard Drive. WTF is that about? Is there a way to disable that or let is recognize it as something that doesn't get removed?

just the mouse, nothing else, doesn't do anything to unplug it.

You could try updating/installing the motherboard drivers...

I've had this problem when i've updated chipset drivers. Try reinstalling them, or reverting to older ones

Evo had this before so try that...
also, try checking this open the Device Manager, expand the Disk drives, R-click on your disk drive and select Properties, click the 'Policies' tab and see if the option 'Optimize for quick removal' is checked? if it does, can you change it to Optimize for performance? But don't change it yet unless you're sure, i'll have to look this up and see if any useful info about this... later. |

I have the same thing with my Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 400 GB SATA. The cause is the nForce 2 Ultra 400 chipset, so if you have nForce this is normal. Dont' know what chip you've got, but maybe it thinks the same about SATA-harddrives. You see SATA harddrives are supposed to be hot-swappable according to the nForce chip. Sure, it's distracting, but there shouldn't be any problem with the hardware or drivers. Just learn to live with it (as long as the hard drive works as it's supposed to).

This is actually normal for all nForce chipsets. I have an NF4 and it appears as well. Not a big deal since it my system tray hides it.
