Windows .NET and Sound Blaster PCI128...

Windows .NET won't recognize my Sound Blaster PCI 128.

Running RC2, Enterprise Server. Works fine in XP on same machine, and was working in RC1, until yesterday, when I upgraded to RC2.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hmmm not sure if this is your issue or not but there seem to be a lot of consumer type drivers missing from rc2....I just used standard xp drivers instead! lol even found they removed support for good old 3Com 509 Series Nic's in Rc2

Did you actually go to the Microsoft support newsgroups or is this copy a *ahem* warez *ahem* one?
It lists this problem on there.

You have to enable audio in system services because its turned off by default.
You may want to turn on direct x as well in dxdiag.
It also says NOT to use unsigned drivers as the server can become unstable. Remember this is a server OS and is not meant for games etc.
Thats waht XP Home/Pro is for.

I have a licensed copy of RC2, as well as I have turned on these services, and am quite familiar with the OS, and its not that the service isn't enabled, the Hardware isn't being detected.

So you say you've got XP on the same machine, right? Install the driver from your XP partition. I have done this kind of thing with 2KADS, which did not recognise my network adapter - I just navigated to XP partition, %systemroot%/System32/drivers (if I remember right). I am 101% sure this works with .NET as well.

Update driver, and get it manually from your XP partition. Good luck

I've done that, thats not the problem, the driver is in .NET, it's just not being installed. (I had to do that for my Network Adapter as well)

Tried this one? - these are the newest.
Well, Creative lacks of user support.

re

this used to happen with older windows "when windows hardware detection writes to a particular address that is being used by a sound card, the network card's response hides the sound card's response, causing a conflict".. i would try to uninstall both network and sound cards in windows and then remove the hardwares/reboot/shutdown, put in only the sound card in order to see whether it detects by windows..

re

pls try again with this.. go to HKLM\system\CurrentControlSet\enum\pci expand "ven_" and click on a folder with a long numerical name then look for the "DeviceDesc" which matches the sound card..if its there, right click on the VEN_ for the card and select "permissions" and then allow->full control.
