Hi, I've some problems with Win XP Pro, I lost again my network, suddenly for no reason Win XP gave me an erronuous IP adress and now I can't join my network....
And even when I've the right IP adress, I can't join the other computer of my network. Here is how I put my network together: ADSL modem > SMC Barricade router > to wires, one to my PC and one to the other computer.... I need some assistance..... |

I just installed XP Home Saturday night.
I've found the LAN connection (and thus my Internet Cable connection) has been my most troublesome development. Make sure the DNS Client is Started in the Services options. That seems to be my resolution so far. I've found it not running after a reboot a few times. Dyre Straits |

There are a few things that you can try...
START --> Run --> Command CD\ ipconfig /all (this will give you a rundown of all the information) ipconfig /flushdnc (this will cleanout everything within the dns cache) Also, what do you have your settings set to. Are your DNS, and IP set to a preconfigured setting (static). Or... do you have it set to Dynamic? |

ipconfig /release
clears all DHCP configuration ipcfonfig /renew requested new DHCP configuration Incase you're using DHCP. And if you aren't, why not?

I have to say, Thanks, for the help.
So, the ipconfig command is what replaces winipcfg, correct? (I've a lot to learn going from 9x to XP.) ![]() Dyre Straits |

You could also try this which is really easy and has done wonders for me. Right click 'My Network Places' on the desktop, select properties, select your adapter/connection, and click on 'Repair This Connection' on the left under 'Network Tasks'.
Hope it helps
