XP and Pioneer 16x DVD ROM screws up!
well i just formatted my comp, now i have this new issue with my pioneer dvd rom drive. when i insert a disc it starts scanning but does not load it, if i try to open it it says its not a valid win32 app.
running cds in my burner is fine, or running the cds in windows ME or are fine. it only fucks up on XP and was fine last week before i reformatted and install xp off the dvd drive. wierd.... any solutions? ive reinstalled the driver and that was no use. AMD Athlon 800 MHz MSI K7-Pro (MS-6195) Mobo 640 SD-RAM Win XP Pro MSI GF4 MX 440 SB Audigy (using SB Audigy 2 drivers) Creative Inspire 5.1 5700 16X Pioneer DVD Drive (fucking up as i said) Dual HD, 40 Maxtor + 30 Quantum both @ 7200 rpm= 70 GB |

Here's a pretty good source of firmware. I'm willing to bet your models in this list . Just make sure you get yer exact model and follow the directions . G'luck

I believe your mobo(MSI K7-Pro) uses the VIA CHIPSET...
XP and VIA has a crazy conflict (haveing a problem with my old comptuer thats why on my new one i made sure the chipset was from intel, dint care for the mobo hehe) Well check out www.viaarena.com and look for the Minibus drivers (look in Drivers/ IDE) hope this helps... oh my problem on the old comp was that the Burner would read any cd as an audio cd with 3 tracks... with instaling the minibus driver this was fixed
