i've been trying to install quake3 on my pc but the setup.exe just loads but nothing else. i've checked the task manager and there is the setup.exe process running but no without response. In fact another game and another software i've tried to install a few days ago didn't work either.
Does someone knows who to fix installshield 5.5? (i've checked the version trough file properties) |

try this
Rename the Installshield Engine folder under: C:\Program Files\Common Fil es\ to something like "TempIS" try running the installation again , If the install works copy over all the files from you TempIS folder back to the newly created Installshield folder after your product installs. (Make sure you chose NOT to overright stuff if prompted!) worked for me about 5 months ago

I've tryed your way but it does the same. setup.exe just loads into memory and stays idle and nothing else.
I can't format my computer now and i've stayed all night long searching google trying to find some solution and nothing. Anyone else have some trick or solution? |

Installshield setup requires read/write access to several places in your Windows software system.
Have you tried logging in as Admin or one of the member of Administrators before running the setup? |

Well it seems that when i forgot about this problem, after sleeping, the next day i rebooted my computer and then it worked fine. damn! so much trouble for nothing, when the solution was just a reboot. Well it seems that i can play again, but still... i'm trying to find out why this happens...

could be due to some of the temporary files or locked files that causes this problem. after you rebooted these files are gone or unlocked.
