its really quite easy to setup 2000adv (.net is even easier, for most apps)
is your domain name being fwded on to your ip? Have you got a firewall in the way, which needs configuring for port fwding? whats problem!

First thing first is your domain resolving to your connection's ip & is it static ip or dynamic! is your ip registered in a dns somewhere eg (probably not agood example) www.hell.homeunix.com (dns housed at Dyndns.org, as I'm on a dynamic ip) which points to my actual ip address, when a packet arrives at port 80 of my firewall. the Firewall passes this to my webserver by port forwarding to the internal ip of the webserver eg 192.168.123.123 the webserver then checks the header of the packet if it contains www.hell.homeunix.org or hell.homeunix.org then the webserver accepts the conection and displays the webpage, if the packet contains any other header it drops the packet & you get 404 page not found (this proccess also allows me to run additional webservers & is as secure as it gets)
Now let me know which bit your stuck at!

you've installed IIS yes! Now my problems begin can't remember if 2000adv has the wizards for setting up websites like .net has!
Basically slap your website in a directory by itsself, add website in iis(right click websites, add new website) Put on local ip & port 80 (or create an additional ip to have the website respond on in network properties) Create The host header name eg www.hell.homeunix.com Under website access permissions set read & execute scripts such as ASP..this depends on what your running! Finish Wizard! Now right click enter properties on the website you have just created! Enter the website tab click on advanced, (you should have title saying something like advanced website identification) Click add select the same ip you used in the wizard & port, now add the header name you missed out in the wizard eg hell.homeunix.org click ok! (this allows ppl to miss off the www, when they enter your website address) Next select the Document tab, now you want to set the default document type in order of preference eg 1st Index.asp (as I'm running asp) 2nd Index.htm (should the asp be not available I want my page to work) Under http header you may also want to set content expiration (this is so that if your site is in anyones cache it will expire, and check back to your server for an update. Apply the above! If your firwall routing is setup correctly you should now be able to browse your site with the aid of a proxyserver from your local machines (be sure to add one in IE/Tools/internet options/connections/lan settings/use a proxy server for your lan! otherwise ppl on internet will be able to see your website but you will not! lol If you need clarifcation or get stuck give us a shout! it sounds more complicated than it is!

Ok im pretty sure that we got everygot set up right to on my server end and the domain and the DNS. I think that the problem lies within the router im useing its a linksys. I have port 80 open and forwarding to the IP of my server. The computer is also in the DMZ. When i run a trace to the site www.modz-world.com the trace ends at my router.
