loggin off xp

when i switch user im still logged. i hit ctrl alt del i see a list but nothing is running numbers stay the same that is.what could be running yes new at xp home.

What exactly do you mean? when you switch user it merely locks the account your in puts it into stand-by effectively and allows you log into a second account. If you want to swap accounts completely then you need to log-off then login to the second one. windows key and L will simply lock your account but leave you logged on but requiring a password to access it again.

Under Settings and User Accounts there is a point called:

Change how Users log off!!

You can change there that if you switch user it REALLY logs you off.
