Install Defaults
Okay so I got a setup now where windows is installed on a small C partition and everythign else goes to D.
well EVERYTHING wants to instal to C!!!! And its pissing me off because I slip up alot. Is there a way of telling it that the default install drive is D?

I don't think so, I just type it in. Just fix your butter fingers and you'll be fine

default installation path for a program is decided upon by the program writer and how the installation has been written.
however, most of the installer programs are usually pick up the default installation path from the following registry key, value names and value data... HKLM\SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion. "ProgramFilesDir"="Drive letter:\Program Files" (default value in most cases is "C:\Program Files") "CommonFilesDir"="Drive letter:\Program Files\Common Files" (default value in most cases is "C:\Program Files\Common Files" that's for your information only. i'd not recommend you to edit those value data due problem with the previously installed programs and some of in-built programs may occur. the best way around this is to choose custom install and point to where you want the program to be installed at the time of the installation. the installer will then ignore the default installation path in registry, the common files will then go to the location indicated in the registry.
