Changed my monitor htz now pc is dead

Last night I set my monitor hz to 100. Then this morning my pc loaded as usuall. It then went dead or atleast the monitor did when trying to go to windows. I think the 100hz is making my pc screen not turn on anymore. It is dead now right from tghe start. I get no bios access sceen or anything. I have no idea what to do since this is a xp problem and I can't even get a screen to load up now.

does yer moniter support that refresh rate, if not and u used it on 100(im no expert here, so have this with some salt) yer monitor might be killed , especially if you cant get a post screen or to the bios, more than likely just the moniter, not yer box.

some times my monitor sings at 1280*1024 at 60 refresh , which is its max resolution and refresh, if i power off during this singing with the front monitor power button it will not power back up. i must pull out the power cord from the back of the monitor and reinsert it, then waallaa! bak in action, maybe give it a try

just tested another monitor and same problem. I also connected the monitor in question to my media pc and it works fine. One thing I thought about is if it is the refresh rate screwing me up wouldn't I still get the starting motherboard bios screen that's not ran through windows os is it.

it's the refresh set in the graphics driver. So when it loads the driver it sets the refresh and bam.

I've done it myself many a time.

Restart windows into safe mode, press F8 as the numlock light comes on, or repeatedly during restart until the menu appears, then once in safe mode either try and change the refresh rate or uninstall the graphics driver.

Yeah, press keep hitting F8 after u hear your pc go "beep".
Then select "VGA Mode" and that will load windows in 640 by 480, 60 hertz.
If that works then just change your screen settings and you're done.
