Radeon HD3850 AGP and OpenGl

Hi guys,

I recently bought an Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP 512MB / 256bit and i have an issue running OpenGl games like Counter-strike (video mode not supported),Quake 3 engine based games and even Doom 3 (Unable to find opengl driver). I'm running Windows Professional x64 SP2 with Catalyst 8.12 AGP hotfix.
I've tried installing older drivers nothing changed, Installed XP 32 bit still no change. The thing is other games are working great no fps drops, nothing.
I even tried swapping opengl dll's both in system 32 and syswow64, and Glview reports that i have OpenGl 1.1 ,an i believe that the card supports up to opengl 3.0.

I have the following spec:
Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 512 Mb 256bit AGP
AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+
ASrock AM2NF3-VSTA mobo
Kingmax 4GB RAM Dual Channel mode DDRII667
Seagate Barracuda 80Gb SATA 7200 rpm
450w PSU

Re: Radeon HD3850 AGP and OpenGl

Did you changed the "CPU to AGP controller" driver to "PCI standart PCI-to-PCI bridge" in device manager ?

Re: Radeon HD3850 AGP and OpenGl

In device manager i have something like this :

NVIDIA nForce3 250 AGP Host to PCI bridge

AND

PCI standart PCI-to-PCI bridge

and they seem to work fine.

And i removed 8.12 Cat and installed 8.11 and now blender starts... stlill stuck on OpenGL 1.1

Anyway how could i change them individually ?

Re: Radeon HD3850 AGP and OpenGl

Update the "PCI standart PCI-to-PCI bridge" to something like "CPU to AGP".

How:
1. Right click on "PCI standart PCI-to-PCI bridge"
2. Click on "Update Driver..."
3. Choose "Install from a list or specific location.(Advanced)"
4. Click Next.
5. Then choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install", click Next.
6. Select a driver like this one "CPU to AGP controller".
7. Click Next. The driver will install.
8. Click Finish.
9. Reboot computer.

and you have opengl 2.1 . good luck !
