Need help choosing the best driver for my older AIT card
ok, I've got a semi old machine, by that I mean pentium 4 2.0, 2gb ram, etc... I run xp pro.
anyhow, all I use this machine for is playing world of warcraft. I'm just trying to optimize my system as I am sure it's reasonable for this game. so, here's my question, I'm not sure exactly what card I have (I know, let the flaming begin) but I can tell you I believe it says in the adapter info radeon 9200 series.. I thought it was a saphire or something, anyhow it's an AGP card with 128 vram. I can certainly update this post with the model when I get home but for now, my question. I have read that different driver versions run this game better than others but can't find anything specific to my setup, so what do you all recommend? an omega driver? what version? thanks in advance. |

Re: Need help choosing the best driver for my older AIT card
seems like 4.12 is the preferred driver but I didn't see that listed in the downloads section. also, what about catalyst version? do I need the catalyst?
thanks. |

Re: Need help choosing the best driver for my older AIT card
matter of fact, I don't even know what a catalyst is, so, if anyone has a suggestion for the most suitable driver to run on my machine can you point out EXACTLY what I need to download? lol, this makes me feel like such a moron.
and do I need to install a catalyst? somewhere on the warcraft forums I read that the catalyst is useless and should not be loaded. course, seeing as I don't even know what that is, I'm already at a disadvantage

Catalyst is ATI's own software set for their drivers (need .net in order to install them). The Omega drivers don't come with the Cat software, it comes with a modified interface that was built using ATI's old interface but works just fine with out some added bloat to it. OmegaDrivers.net - Home of the ATI & NVIDIA Omega Drivers. Archive and look for the Radeon Omega Drivers 3.8.252 (Catalyst 6.5) drivers. Should work for you I would think.
