Sad Radeon 7000 Series - Texture Corruption

I have a radeon 7000 series graphics card. I downloaded the omegacorner drivers and installed them, and they resulted in a 1-2 fps loss. So, i reverted to the original ATI drivers and now many of my textures have gone white

what the hell is happening?

The white textures are worst in UT2004. any textures that should be reflective are white, such as health kits, ice, and water.

that and the fact the the 7000 series is dx7 hardware trying to do dx8/9 doesn't help

Nuh-uh. Its not a UT2004 bug, trust me. Any reflective textures in any game (even in my screensaver) are white.

mabe not then you've got a problem

you see i had that same problem in ut2004 but I removed and reinstalled and it fixed it. Worked fine after that. But i had missing textures on the ground area and on weapons

I can play ut2004 on a radeon 64 mb vivo (wich is the first radeon series)( 7200 cores i think)
anyways the game plays just fine....

How about you take a screen shot and post it? so we can better see what your talking about

I dont know if the RAm will fix the problem since the game was running fine before the install of new drivers...

If I were you I would remove the ATI drivers from your system and use drivercleaner to remove all driver files from windows and then reinstall them.

Here is the order of process that you need to do:

1.Download drivercleaner from here:click this
2.Install drivercleaner
3.Remove all drivers from your add/remove programs in control pannel that are ATI related.
4.Dont reboot yet!
5.Run drivercleaner and select ATI from the list and select "Clean"
6.Reboot PC
7.Install the drivers that you think work best

Hope this works. If it doesnt get back to us.... And if possible save some cash for a faster graphics card - you can pick up a reasonable ATI card for under $70.

try runnign the game in safe mode under software rendering...it will be ugly and slow as crap...but if it works fine, then I'm gunna say it's a RAM issue

Smilie

Fixed it. I finally got fed up with it all.

Uninstalled everything even vaguely ATI related from my computer, killed off every ATI registry value. Took two whole days. Two whole days of 640 x 480.

Then, still in 640 x 480 mode, i surfed to omegacorner, got the latest drivers, and installed them. Now it works B-E-A-UTIFULLY

If you want, ill post some pics so you can see how UT2004 looks on a 667.

Excellent........I am glad that you got it worked out. It just sux that you had to spend so long doing it. I guess sometimes it is a whole lot easier doing a fresh install. Having an image of your hard drive sure does make things nice when something like that happens
