Secret "Official" catalyst drivers for mobility users
Hello to you all,
I'm a newcomer to this forum and, seeing all the difficulties that mobility radeon users have with drivers (the omega drivers are great but some prefer official catalysts which don't install without a modder), I felt compelled to share this discovery with you, which I've never seen mentioned before on this forum. On ati's webpage is a link which is almost impossible to find unless you know of it: http://www.ati.com/products/embedded/sw.html On this page are some official drivers for mobility users (scroll down to Radeon drivers), last updated yesterday (so they are pretty recent). I have these installed on my S series Vaio (ATI m9700) and they work fantastically well. My only question is : why have ati hidden this page so well? Hope it helps, Eurojonny |

I'm sure that we are all thrilled, but perhaps we souldn't broadcast the link just in case the laptop gestapo (sorry, I mean manufacturers) find out about it and make ATI hide their laptop drivers in an even more obscure and harder to find location. I wonder are these the mobility optimised drivers that Terry has hinted at but was never allowed reveal.

Just in case anyone is interested you can download the latest CCC for use with these drivers, just grab it from the dial up section of the regular ATI driver download page. It even recognises that you have a laptop chip and gives a section in the CCC for notebook panel display that lets you decide whether to scale the image to full screen or have a centered unscaled image.

"laptop gestapo" Love it! Great find, eurojonny! Welcome to DH! I'll have to test these out! Update: Well I just tried these with my Radeon Mobility IGP320 and it was a no go. Oh well.

All I can say is WOW!
Thanks, eurojonny, for the link (you are definetely the man of the hour). Interestingly, the Radeon drivers don't mention the 9600Pro Mobility. Can anyone confirm if these drivers work with the 9600Pro Mobility?? Also, can anyone confirm if there are any Sleep Mode/Hibernation issues? How do these drivers perform with Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Half Life 2, Rome Total War, and other DX9 games?? I can't wait to here more user comments. Again, WOW! Thanks in advance

Actually, these drivers are for systems that have a mobility chipset but aren't used in laptops.
Systems like slot machines, or airport terminals, or whatever needs an ati video card. A very friendly man from ATI was so kind to explain this to me ![]() But as you discovered these do work on laptops aswell. Not all chipsets are supported but if you are lucky them might work for you. they are official 4.12's ![]() oh and the laptop gestapo won't mind as these are not intended to OEM machines, but we are ( i mean ATI is) taking a step in the right direction! Whohow!
