Catalyst Installation problems

Hey guys, I'm having Catalyst installation problems (5.1+) and I really need help.
Is this a known issue?
What happens is that the installation crashed on the WDM section of the installation. I tried not installing that part of the driver but then the installation crashes at the point where WDM should be installed.

I really wanna be able to talk about drivers etc but how the F*** can I do that if I can't install the driver !!!111

If you need any system specs please ask as I don't know what could be affecting the installation

In safe mode i get the message: "Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software.

I only get that message on safe mode

grab http://drivercleaner.net/
run it in safe mode and remove all the ati items but the IGP ones
then try installing the drivers again (not in safe mode)

if it still doesnt work, try installing the driver manually from device manager.
also when your in device manager could you goto the resources tab for your video card and paste your hardware ids (click on one and press ctrl+c to copy it) here.

5.3 is the latest driver to be FFXI compatible so I thought I'd try that one.

I have tried 5.4 (when it was the latest driver) and that had the same installation problems as 5.3

Yep. I tried to manually install driver and it didn't ask me for a file it just installed some driver on by itself and then asked me to reboot.

How do I check my current running catalyst version?

Big Grin

when I try to update the driver manually it automatically installs catalyst 4.8 I cant chooose the driver I want to install ><

I downloaded the driver off ATI.com but only the driver using the low bandwidth mirror. The installation was successful but now I dont have CCC or the other stuff. are they actually necessary?

Well guys, I think my driver problems are as close to being solved as they ever will be. A big thank you to all who read and replied to me.

Thank you

If you want to control video settings, it's a good idea to have at least Control Panel (this one is for CAT 5.5)
